Hairdresser Returns to Route 4 with New Salon

4th Ave Hair Studio, located at 23-11 Broadway, held its grand opening on Wednesday, Nov. 28

Hairdresser Oscar Ricco is back on Broadway.

The Peruvian native and former owner of two Broadway hair salons -- Hair Designs by Oscar Ricco and Intuition Beauty Salon -- has returned to the strip to launch his latest venture, 4th Ave Hair Studio.

The salon, which opened on Oct. 9 and held its grand opening Wednesday, offers cuts, coloring and the latest in hair treatments, techniques and styles for both men and women.

Its name, Ricco explained, combines its location -- Route 4 (or 23-11 Broadway, to be exact) -- and Fifth Avenue, the prestigious Manhattan thoroughfare.

Ricco, a 30-year beauty salon-industry veteran who'd been working at The Parlour in Montvale for the past five years, said he returned to Fair Lawn because he saw an opportunity to reach new customers.

"The clientele in this area deserve to have quality service the way the people in Montvale have it," he said.

Ricco, a Saddle Brook resident, said he's already had substantial success recruiting former clients in the area and expects his new business to thrive.

"Clients who had been missing for a long time, I see them again," he said. "I can tell the business is going to be successful in this area."

For now, he and hairdresser Lucy Guillen are the salon's only employees, but Ricco said he's been interviewing candidates and will soon bring on two more employees to fill out the salon's staff.

I hope he succeeds back in Fair Lawn. There are really not that many Good salons in town. I've been going into Ridgewood for my cuts. I will try his place and wish him luck.

It's a damn shame that the owner of that plaza pushed Denise out, who originally owned that spot. Denise is a great haircutter.
