Adopt-a-Soldier Platoon Needs Your Vote
The local charity is currently running 151st nationally in the Chase Community Giving Program, putting it in line for a $10,000 donation.
The Adopt-a-Soldier Platoon Program has been boosting the morale of military units overseas and their families back home since 2003. In return, why not give them a boost with a simple click of your mouse?
The Fair Lawn-based organization, which collects non-perishable food items, toiletries, small electronics and other items for soldiers stationed overseas, is currently in fierce competition for up to $250,000 in grants from Chase as part of the bank's Community Giving Program.
Earlier this year, Chase allowed employees and customers to nominate their favorite charities. Nominated charities that accepted their nominations by Aug. 30 -- like the Adopt-a-Soldier Platoon -- shared equally in $2.5 million in initial grants and were moved on to the voting round.
In the voting round, which ends Sept. 19, anyone can vote for the charity they'd like to see receive additial grants from Chase. The 196 charities with the most votes will share in $5 million in grants, with the leading vote-getter being awarded $250,000.
As of 2 p.m. Wednesday, Adopt-a-Soldier Platoon was running in 151st place, putting the organization in line for $10,000 in grants. If they can get into the top 96 -- they're currently about 200 votes short -- they'd receive $20,000.
