Borough Website Going on 2 Days of Downtime
Fair Lawn's website and email service has been down since Tuesday afternoon and the borough has yet to hear from its service provider with an explanation or solution.
Fair Lawn's website and email system have been down for almost two days without any word from the borough's web host as to the nature of the problem or when it will be fixed, assistant borough manager Jim Van Kruiningen said Thursday morning.
"It's never been down this long," said Van Kruiningen, who estimated that the downtime began mid-afternoon Tuesday.
The webmaster has tried multiple times to call the borough's web host, MJR Solutions, but has reached only an answering machine, Van Kruiningen said. Messages left on the company's answering machine have not been returned.
Without a direct line to the company, webmaster Ron Lottermann electronically submitted a support ticket through the host's website Thursday morning, and is awaiting a response.
Not only does the downtime make the borough's website inaccessible to residents, it also renders users of the borough's email system unable to send or receive messages, Van Kruiningen said.
Without a functioning email system since Tuesday afternoon, it's possible that council members have not received potentially time-sensitive emails from constituents.
Van Kruiningen said he's received some calls from residents asking about the website, but most of the concern has come from council members whose lack of email access has kept them out of the loop.
