Ice Cream Shop holding grand opening on Saturday and Sunday, plus Purim celebrations

 

Searching for family-friendly activities this weekend? We've got you covered:

1. Grand Opening of Ice Cream Factoria

Where/When: Ice Cream Factoria, 23-16 Broadway, Fair Lawn; Saturday and Sunday at noon each day

Why Go: Opening weekend celebrations will include face painting and balloons for children as well as raffle giveaways. The store opens at noon each day during opening weekend and closes at 10 p.m. The face painter will be available from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday.

2. FLJC/CBI Purim Carnival

Where/When: Fair Lawn Jewish Center Congregation Bnai Israel, 10-10 Norma Ave, Fair Lawn; 11 a.m–1 p.m. Sunday

Why Go: Activities will be available for children of all ages. The carnival will feature classic games such as the basketball throw, bowling knock down, krazy kans, fishing for humantashen, and marble raceway and more. Other activities such as make your own sand art, and temporary tattoos will also be available. Esther and Mordechai's Cafe will be open for lunch, featuring falafel, hot dogs, popcorn, cotton candy, and hamantashen. Come in costume and join the fun! 3. Megillah Madness

Where/When: Temple Beth Sholom, 40-25 Fair Lawn Ave, Fair Lawn; 8-10 p.m. Saturday

Why Go: Join in the spirit of Purim during an evening filled with merriment and frivolity. The Megillah reading will begin at 8 p.m. and the Megillah Madness festivities will immediately follow the reading. The celebration will include a juggler, face painting, craft activities, music, light snacks and make your own ice cream sundaes. Costumes or a crazy hat are encouraged but not required.

4. Cinderella in Fair Lawn

Where/When: Fair Lawn Community Center, 10-10 20th St., Fair Lawn; Friday and Saturday 8 p.m., Sunday 2 p.m.

Why Go: The Old Library Theatre is presenting Rodgers & Hammerstein's Cinderella. After the show, children of all ages will be able to meet and take pictures with the cast, and get autographs.

Pricing: General admission is $20, students and seniors are $18, and children under 12 are $10

5. Happy Birthday Celebration at the NJ Children's Museum

Where/When: NJ Children's Museum, 599 Valley Health Plaza, Paramus; Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Why Go: NJ Children's Museum is celebrating their birthday with princesses, super heroes and other characters along with special guests

Pricing: All activities, character visits and events are including in admission which is $10 plus tax per person
