Fair Lawn, Paramus Fire Departments Hoist American Flag for Fallen Brother [Photos]
Fair Lawn Fire Department's Truck 1 assisted the Paramus Fire Department Saturday with a flag hoisting over Midland Avenue for a former Paterson firefighter who died last week.
Scott Rogow's brothers from fire departments around the area paid tribute to his life Saturday, joining forces to hoist and fly an American flag over Midland Avenue in honor of the former Paterson firefighter who died last week.
Rogow, who retired from the Paterson Fire Department in 2011, died on Aug. 28 as a result of complications from injuries he suffered while battling a fire several years ago, Fair Lawn Fire Chief Eric Reamy said. He was 49.
Despite numerous surgeries and physical therapy, Rogow was unable to return to duty and forced to retire from the Paterson Fire Department last year after a 20-year career as a firefighter and Emergency Medical Technician with Engine Co. 6 and Rescue Co. 2., respectively.
During his career, Rogow received multiple decorations for heroism, including the 2006 Silver Medal Award for Valor from the New Jersey State Fireman's Mutual Benevolent Association.
He is survived by his wife, Lynne, and their three children -- Jenna, Heather and Tyler.
