On the heels of an announcement by Gov. Chris Christie Tuesday night that he would sign an executive order rescheduling Halloween, Fair Lawn decided Wednesday morning to postpone the holiday after all and select a new date.
Deputy Mayor John Cosgrove said the council took a unanimous vote Wednesday to reschedule Halloween on whatever day the state picks.
"There are just too many downed wires and everything else," he said.
The borough will send out a Reverse 911 call Wednesday with the updated information for residents.
Saddle Brook Mayor Karen Chamberlain said the township also had postponed Halloween and would abide by whatever day the governor recommended the holiday should be rescheduled.
Christie issued an executive order postponing the holiday late Wednesday morning and said towns that had not already rescheduled Halloween should hold the holiday on Monday, Nov. 5.

Why don't they reschedule Christmas while they are at it? I will be handing out candy to all who knock at my door.

How about a "Trick n Trunk" event at the High School or perhaps Thomas Jefferson Middle School. As a Fair Lawn parent....... I'm In.....decorate your car or van, bring your candy and watch all the smiles from the kids!!!

Borough phone lines went down today so we were unable to make the reverse 911 calls. Please let friends and neighbors know that Halloween has been scheduled for this comming Monday.
When I left the Borough Hall at 4 o'clock some of the phones were coming back in service so hopefully you should be getting a call soon!!!
