Fair Lawn Police Car Involved in Minor Two-Car Accident
Both vehicles took minor damage, but no one was injured in the two-car accident Tuesday on Fair Lawn Avenue.
Slick road conditions contributed to a minor accident Tuesday morning in which a Fair Lawn police car rear-ended a vehicle that stopped abruptly in front of it on Fair Lawn Avenue, Sgt. Richard Schultz said.
The cars were traveling eastbound on Fair Lawn Avenue in the area of the Route 208 on-ramp when the car directly in front of the police vehicle stopped short, Schultz said. Patrol Officer Alan Annazone, who was driving the police car, skidded while attempting to stop on the wet road and slid into the stopped car's rear bumper, Schultz said.
Both cars suffered minor damage, but no one was hurt, Schultz said. He did not know yet why the first car had stopped or whether any tickets would be issued.
The police car inovlved in the accident remained in service the rest of the day and is on the road again Wednesday.

Hmmm. . . sounds to me like one of them was a "distracted" driver . . . .

Oh for god's sake...what for! Are you kidding me? Are you gonna make a federal case out of a minor fender bender on a rainy pavement because it's a cop behind the wheel? Get over it already!

Wow, guys...I find it amazing that this officer is the first person in town who ever had someone stop short on front of him. That never happens, right?

if i see i cop car i keep as much distance as i can, they drive like they own the road. ill be driving straight and a cop will shoot out of no where making a left turn assuming he is allowed to make these dangerous (illegal) manuvers because he is a cop. my favorite is when a cop turns on his siren to get through a yellow or red light and ill see them minutes later on the road obviously not rushing towards an emergency

If there was no reason that the car in front stopped short, then that car should be ticketed.

Not surprising. FL cops drive like they are on a race track.
