Fair Lawn Schools to Resume Classes Wednesday

Fair Lawn public schools will be closed Monday, Nov. 5 and Tuesday, Nov. 6, but will re-open Wednesday for the remainder of the week.

Fair Lawn public schools will re-open on Wednesday, Nov. 7, and hold classes for the remainder of the week, Board of Education president Michael Rosenberg said.

District schools, which had been set to close Thursday and Friday next week while teachers attended the NJEA Convention in Atlantic City, are now going to be open due to the convention's cancellation.

Radburn School and Edison School, both currently still in the dark, will not re-open Wednesday unless they have regained power, Rosenberg said.

Although schools will be closed Monday, the borough has scheduled a Trunk-or-Treat event that evening at Memorial and Thomas Jefferson middle schools, which runs from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Cars should arrive between 5 p.m. and 5:30 p.m.

Fair Lawn High School will continue to operate as a warming center and charging station Friday, Saturday, Monday and Tuesday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

What is keeping the schools closed on Monday? If it was the power at Radburn/Edison - they would not be opening at all on Wednesday....

@Ezra - Schools are coordinating closings with the borough, and as such, have jointly decided to remain closed Monday to give the town more time for clean up and recovery from the storm before adding buses and school traffic back to the roads. Schools are closed Tuesday for Election Day.

@Zak - Thanks. Does that mean the staff development day will be rescheduled? Will the schools be open for voting?

Radburn and Edison will not be open for voting. People who normally vote there will be asked to vote at the Community Center instead. All other schools that operate as polling places will continue to operate as polling places on election day. Waiting to hear on staff development day.
