Fair Lawn Opens Up Pistol Range to Glen Rock Police
Glen Rock police will train at the range four days a year.
Fair Lawn has reached a tentative agreement with Glen Rock to share use of the town's police pistol range with Glen Rock police officers.
Per the agreement, Glen Rock police will have access to the range, located at 20-05 Saddle River Road, from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., four days per year at a cost of $500 per day.
“It’s a small step in shared services, but I think it sends a good message," Deputy Mayor Ed Trawinski said of the agreement.
To minimize the noise generated from additional target training, outdoor use of the range will be prohibited after 5 p.m. and on weekends. Glen Rock officers wishing to use the range after 5 p.m. must move indoors.
Borough manager Tom Metzler assured council members that Glen Rock would provide insurance coverage for its officers' use of the range and staff its own range officers on days it uses the range.
“The only time that our personnel will be involved is for the random [Glen Rock] officer that can’t get in for training," Metzler said. "They would come over when our officers were training."

Sounds like a win win situation for all involved.

A small but good step. How about opening up the range to residents? I wouldn't mind using it.....
