Jerzey Tat Finds New Home in Saddle Brook

Just three months after being forced out of Fair Lawn due to skyrocketing rent, Bruce Walker has a shiny new home for his tattoo parlor right in his hometown.
Jerzey Tat, which lasted about a year on River Road between Krauszers and Shop-Rite before closing last October, reopened Tuesday in Saddle Brook, tucked away behind Kim Bridge Cardtiques & Florist on busy Market Street.
Walker said he's happy with his new spot, which he's secured on a multi-year lease from his landlord, Mayor Karen Chamberlain.
"I have my sign in the front now which I didn't have in Fair Lawn," he said. "And being up here" -- Jerzey Tat is housed in a cozy second floor space above Kim Bridge -- "it's like my own little personal studio now, so it's little bit more personal, a little bit more one-on-one."
Walker hadn't necessarily been looking to relocate his business to Saddle Brook, but a chance meeting with Chamberlain at a local fundraiser changed his mind.
"I was actually at a fundraiser that they were doing for a soccer team and Karen Chamberlain, the mayor, happened to be there and I kind of just expressed to her how would she feel about a tattoo shop in Saddle Brook," Walker said. "She just happened to have a space available above her store that she was looking to rent out and that was it. One thing led to another and now I'm here."
Despite the new digs, Walker said it's the same old Jerzey Tat, which boasts welcoming service and quality work at affordable prices.
For now, Walker and Rochelle Park resident Christina Lisa will serve as the primary tattoo artists, but a licensed cosmetic tattoo/permanent makeup artist will be joining the team soon.
Walker said he's excited about being the only tattoo game in town and believes working in his own community should be a boon to business.

nice to hear that their mayor and people are open to ALL kinds of businesses. last year when this place was opening in FL it was disgusting all the nasty comments. ididots assuming that tattoos bring gangs and a bad element to the area. i know rent is probably the real reason for the change, however i would have considered my business based on the bias attitudes of the FL residents.

Let one open around the corner from your home, in a neighborhood that is already dealing with gangs, and see how you feel. Glad it's not here anymore, although I still think the landlord made an idiot move for the third or fourth time driving out a tenant that was, at least, filling an empty storefront im a building that is too large and should never have been built in the first place.

deleted- your post shows how ignorent you are. how you relate tattoos to gangs. have you ever spoke to Bruce Walker or been inside one of his shops? if not do you think it is fair to have a negative opinion on his business that you know nothing about?
my grandfather was a veteran in the Navy, he has a tattoo of an anchor, is he a thug or gang member?
the engineer in the office across from me has a master degree from cornell and a tattoo of his daughter, is it safe for me to assume he is in a gang?
you shouldnt judge a book by its cover, or out dated stereo types

Facebook the "artists" here before you go. I would recommend going somewhere else. Anywhere else.
