Man Allegedly Threatened to 'Kill Everybody' At Sleep Center
Sarat Atluri has been charged under the terrorism statute for allegedly threatening a group of people at Fair Lawn's Comprehensive Sleep Center on Wednesday.
The Elmwood Park man arrested on terrorism charges Wednesday after an incident at the Comprehensive Sleep Center on Broadway allegedly said he was "going to kill everybody in here," police said Friday.
Sarat Atluri, 35, faces charges of making terroristic threats and terrorism because five or more people were present in the room when the alleged threat was made, police said.
Sgt. Eric Leitman said police did not interview Atluri and were thus unaware of his motivation for allegedly threatening to kill a roomful of people.
Atluri's alleged threat was unprovoked and he had no clear connection to the sleep center, police said. He simply walked in, threatened to kill everyone in the room, and walked out, Leitman said.
The Comprehensive Sleep Center's administrator declined comment on the incident.
Atluri, who was also charged with resisting arrest and assaulting a police officer because he allegedly scuffled with the officer who arrested him in the Broadway Medical Buillding parking lot, is currently being housed in Bergen County Jail's Medical Unit.

Sounds like charge stacking to me. The LEO probably fabricated the resisting arrest charge too. Most of the charges won't stick and they know it, which is why no police interview took place.
Thank God nobody was hurt, hopefully some of the employees of the store now realize the importance of concealed carry and arm themselves. They could have been a statistic if this guy was more of a physco and armed.

Charge stacking?? Why won't the charges stick. Can you inform me which ones and why? And before you indulge me, try looking up the statutes that were used under the NJ Code of Criminal Justice.

Wayne, we are actually given no information about whether any of the people in the store were had concealed carry permits, and under the circumstances, most protocols for handling violent threats safely do not call for threatening right back; that's usually considered a good way to escalate a situation.
