Pedestrians Struck on Route 80

Two were struck after their disabled minivan was rear-ended in the right lane of the highway.

 

Two pedestrians were injured in a three car accident on the eastbound side of Route 80, near exit 63 in Saddle Brook, Wednesday morning.

According to state police, the two victims were standing in front of a broken down minivan in the right lane of the highway at approximately 6:00 am when their car was rear-ended. They were struck by their own disabled vehicle.

The other car also collided with a tractor trailer, causing lane closures for over an hour.

Both pedestrians were conscious when transported to a nearby hospital. The accident investigation is ongoing.

That unfortunate. Lucky they had a mini van and not a smart car I guess. People need to get off the roadway, pull totally off the road, put hazards on, and light up flares and get into a lighted areas. Some people just stop in the roadway in unsafe areas - story doesn't cover the details of the event.
