Radburn’s Annual Family Day Draws Over 1,000 People [Photos]
The annual family day is filled with activities and contests, including one of the area's largest egg tosses.
The heavy rain showers that pelted North Jersey on Friday gave way to sunny skies and comfortable 70s weather on Saturday for Radburn's 36th annual Family Day, held in “B” Park.
The day's set up included a trackless train, petting zoo, pony rides, a water slide, bounce house, rock wall, obstacle course, spin art, carnival games, scavenger hunt, water volleyball, food court, cotton candy and snow cones.
Contests took over in the afternoon, beginning with jousting on a board across the pool.
Eighty-one kids participated in the Pie Eating Contest, which was won by Johnny Radice and Nicki Kissil (12 and under), Tyler Pollock (13 to 17), and Luke Walsh and Andrew Neggia (18 and over).
One-hundred-and-ninety kids and adults participated in one of the area’s largest Egg Toss Contests, which was won by Chris Messerian and Sam Dypko (15 and under) and Tom and Connor Cahill (16 and over).
In the Tug of War Contest, as the fire truck sprayed the kids with water, the Boys Team beat the Girls Team for the first time in years.
At night, it was Dancing in the Park under the lights with DJ Abe Scheinzeit. The Hula-Hoop Contest was won by Romi Schalom, Mia Adler, John O’Malley and Shimon Yamaorn (9 and under) and Nicki Kissil, Shawn Kissil and William Horowitz (10 and over). The dance contests included the Limbo Contest and the Freeze Dance, each won by over 20 kids.

As there was no alcohol served at Family Day, that statement doesn't apply to the festivities.

Best open air drinking bash ever. Guess Radburn parks are the place to drink without police intervention.....

Was this event open to anyone in the area? Or was it strictly for families that live in the Radburn section of town?

They didn't sell the alcohol but it sure was available to anyone who wanted it 8 to 80 all day and night no id required. Blazin 101 hit the nail on the head. I'm not even from the hood. As far as selling this park land that will come with the drinking liability lawsuits. Can't wait till next year
Party on Radburn.....

And yet Tommy P is not here complaining about his Radburn "taxes" going towards entertainment. Glad you all had a good time.
