Radburn Native Missing in Delaware
John Dohms, a Fair Lawn native, has been missing from his home in Newark, Del. for almost a month and his family believes he may return to his hometown.
Family and friends are seeking help finding John Dohms, a former Fair Lawn man who who suffers from dementia and has not been seen for nearly a month.
Dohms, 64, grew up at 24 Randolph Terrace in Radburn, but had been living in Newark, Del. since he retired from teaching at the University of Delaware.
He is a graduate of Fair Lawn High School where he played on the lacrosse team.
Dohms' family has created a Facebook page to create awareness about his disappearance and facilitate his safe return.
"We have reason to believe that [John] is alive," the page states. "He is in excellent physical health. He has always been an outdoorsman and would know how to survive in the wilderness."
While Dohms is suspected to be in either Delaware or Pennsylvania, his family believes there's a small chance he could wind up back in Fair Lawn.
According to a Delaware news article, Dohms was wearing a bright green button-down shirt, khaki shorts, green socks and white tennis shoes when he was last seen on Sept. 13. He wears a medic alert bracelet on his left wrist and may be carrying a set of binoculars, according to the report.
The University of Delaware has offered a $10,000 reward to anyone who finds Dohms.
Individuals wishing to aid in the search can help raise awarenesss by sharing the family's "Help us find John Dohms," Facebook page.
