Rescue Squad Cashes In On TD Bank Affinity Program

TD Bank presented a check for $7,431.73 to the Fair Lawn Rescue Squad on Wednesday for its affiliation with the bank's Affinity Program.

For the second straight year, the Fair Lawn Rescue Squad received a sizable donation from TD Bank through its relationship with the bank's Affinity Program.

Through the Affinity Program, individuals and businesses that have an account with TD Bank can confidentially link their account to a non-profit. As long as that non-profit maintains at least 50 linked accounts for the entire year, TD bank will make a donation to that non-profit on an annual basis.

While the amount of the donation is calculated based on a formula that takes into account the number of linked accounts and the balances of those linked accounts, the accounts are never touched. This way, individuals can support the rescue squad without it costing them anything.

"It's a great way to support a non-profit," said Jerry Slavik, the store manager of TD Bank's Fair Lawn branch, located at 16-00 River Road.

This year, the 92 accounts linked to the rescue squad -- fourth highest in the Northern Bergen County region -- netted them a $7,431.73 donation from TD Bank.

The rescue squad is not the only non-profit in town taking advantage of the program, Slavik said. The Fair Lawn Fire Department's Company 1 also utilizes the Affinity Program.
