The borough awarded a contract worth $33,430 to Hasbrouck Heights-based Bello Grande Contracting, LLC Tuesday to build an outdoor patio on the east side of the Fair Lawn Senior Center, located at 11-05 Gardiner Road.

The patio, which will have an awning to keep seniors cool on hot summer days, is being funded through a $40,000 Community Development Block Grant that the borough applied for after the senior center requested more usable outdoor space on its property.

Construction of the patio should last about a month and is expected to be done by the end of the year, borough engineer Ken Garrison said.
