The Department of Education released the New Jersey School Report Card for the 2009-2010 academic year on Tuesday, including data for Fair Lawn's nine public schools.
In the borough school district's narrative on the DOE website, Superintendent Bruce Watson stated that the Fair Lawn Board of Education "has placed major emphasis upon instructional strategies, expectations of what students should be learning, authentic student assessment, parent involvement, literacy education, use of technology, and implementation of the CORE content standards."
"A recent illumination of our math and science expectations have resulted in program improvements in grade K-12," Watson said.
According to Watson, the school district has also "begun the process of mapping our curriculum and implementing a framework for the development of Professional Learning Communities with emphasis on building teacher collaboration teams that focus on learning rather than instruction."
