Fair Lawn resident Josh Amaya, a young Navy Veteran, was found dead on Oct. 10. Sam Leigh, who served with Amaya at Naval Station Mayport in Jacksonville, Fla., broke the story.

6. Motorcyclist Seriously Injured in Route 208 Crash
In May, Fair Lawn resident Thanh Nguyen, 21, was seriously injured after the motorcycle he was driving was hit by a car at Plaza Road and Route 208 North. The accident backed up traffic for nearly five hours.
James Sarvis, of Teaneck, was charged with aggravated assault the next day in connection with the accident. According to police reports, Sarvis was trying to dodge traffic by driving in the shoulder of Route 208 North when he hit Nguyen, who was entering the highway at Plaza Road.

In August, police busted a house party where they found 42 individuals engaging in underage drinking, nine of whom were 18 or older.
