A car accident in the vicinity of Plaza Road and Carol Place backed up the nearby Route 208 exit ramp Friday afternoon around 2:15 p.m.

The northbound lane of Plaza Road was closed temporarily while the accident was cleared and police fought the pounding rain to direct traffic at the scene.

A silver Ford Focus and a gold Toyota sedan -- both with front-end damage -- were towed from the scene.

It isn't clear if poor weather conditions -- which caused a motorist to spin out and topple a light pole earlier in the morning -- played a role in this crash

Neither the nature of the accident nor the condition of either driver involved is known.

Police were unavailable for comment.
