Where to Find Free Wi-Fi in Fair Lawn

Panera Bread and the Maurice M. Pine Free Public Library top this editor's list.

Don't have an office, but need to spend the bulk of your workday Fair Lawn? Then you most definitely need access to local venues with wireless Internet access–preferably free access, if you need to be logged on for a while.

This editor's two Wi-Fi hotspots of choice in Fair Lawn are the Maurice M. Pine Free Public Library and Panera Bread, both located on Fair Lawn Avenue. The library's biggest advantage is a peaceful and quiet work environment, but if your work involves making phone calls, it's probably not the workspace for you. You'll also be out of luck on Fridays, when the library is closed (at least for the time being) due to mandatory unpaid furlough days for borough employees.

Panera is a spacious bakery-cafe with plenty of outlets to plug in your computer. Just know that it's always courteous to purchase something if you're using free Wi-Fi at a cafe for an extended period of time. Plus, if you're using the Wi-Fi for a really long time (as this editor often does), one cup of coffee might not cut it. Panera, however, offers the perfect solution: an in-store coffee mug with unlimited free refills for $1.79. You can even mix and match flavors, which include light roast, dark roast, hazelnut, and decaf. The store even labels the coffee pots to indicate what time they were refilled with a fresh batch.

Other destinations for free Wi-Fi in Fair Lawn include McDonald's on Broadway, the Hyatt Place on South Broadway, and the Fair Lawn Community Center on 20th Street.

During the summers, I take my daughter to swim lessons at Memorial Pool. But I can take my laptop and continue my work there because of the Optimum Hotspot there (only for Optimum customers but if you subscribe, it's free for you!). Nothing better than working outside on a glorious summer day on the 'beach'.
