Homeowners Can Light Up Their Lives … and Their Properties

So you’ve spent your Saturday working in the garden- every weed has been pulled and every plant has been watered. As you pack up your garden tools, the daylight quickly disappears leaving you hardly any time to enjoy all the work you’ve done. If you’ve found yourself in this disappointing position, it’s time for you to explore the endless possibilities of outdoor landscape lighting.

Many homeowners remain “in the dark” about the basics of landscape lighting, and miss out on the opportunity to enrich their landscape. Illuminating your property with low-voltage landscape lighting is easier than you might have thought, and there are many cost-effective strategies to take as you design and install a custom system for your home. Before moving forward with design ideas, take a moment to review the advantages of an outdoor lighting system.

Aside from the obvious aesthetic benefits, a well-lit property will enhance security and direct potential intruders to the darker areas of your neighborhood where they will not be seen. Second, a well-lit path will ensure that all welcome visitors make it to your front door safely and protect you from potential liability. Further, tasteful landscape lighting can increase the value of your home instantly and allow you to get more mileage out of the investment you’ve made in your landscape. Unlike other types of electrical work, low-voltage landscape lighting does not require an electrician, and is safe to install and operate. As your landscape changes and matures over the years, it’s easy to change the look and focus of your lighting to adapt to the new needs and changes in your property. The lighting layout install this summer is not set in stone for the years to come.

When the time comes to look at lighting fixtures, don’t be overwhelmed by the vast range of styles and lighting trends that are offered by manufacturers. Choose features that blend with the style of your home and garden and enhance features of your property that you love the most. Venture beyond lighting paths and sidewalks, and consider lighting benches, gates and fences.

A well-designed outdoor lighting system will complement your landscape and add elegance and refinement to your home all year round. As you flush out your ideas on illuminating your property, you will be pleasantly surprise how this simple component of your landscape can vastly improve the function, value and beauty of your home.

How reputable can a company be that tries to steal advertisement?

Hot Head

Steal?......this is a blog on home improvement and an open forum inviting comment.
We are more than reputable; and not remotely in competition with this business.
Who are you and what objection do you have to healty "green" solutions?

You are too cheap to buy your own advertising, stop leeching off of others.

@ Hot Head - Don't worry..you'll find a select few who always have something bad/neg. to say about others, or what they do. Just wait and see what a few will say about my post...and notice who there are.

Maybe you'll be at the Fair Lawn Green Fair 2012, this coming Tues. May 22nd..held at the FLHS ( caf. D ) starting at 6:00 pm.

Hi Wayne & Nose Wayne,
I'm not offended by ignorance. Some don't realize what social networking IS. And some feel that they can "advertise" their opinion but I cannot.
If I competed w/the business it would be one thing. However, I not only respect them; I'm offering a service that can compliments what they are doing around the home to "further" enhance and maintan a property.
I will stop by tomorrow evening. Hope to run into you there and maybe a few of these individuals with too much time on their hands.
Also, I'm sure the business I have been "accused of "stealing" advertising from has solar lighting to offer.
There is no business like this in the area. "Go Green" & Be Clean.

Hi Nose,
By the way. This is not merely cleaning your house. It is cleaning with 100% proven disinfection using an "all green" method; very hot vapor steam under high pressure to kill and remove hibernating infectious germs. It introduces NO chemicals into the environment. All we discard is dead organic material and water.
This IS where old becomes new. Steam has been around since the industrial revolution and is the standard (in an enclave) for sterilization of medical instruments.
Now....thanks to new technology; we can produce the same kind of pressure and heat "outside an enclave" and employ this technology in many healthy ways and in settings not limited to the home; such as: child care facilities, elder care facilities, food service, doctors offices etc.......We need to break the chain of infection in a way that does not use toxic chemicals that can hurt us even before they get back in our food and water.
FYI......Valley Hospital is adopting this technology in the near future; which only further validates what I am doing.
Be Healthy!

It looks like reading comprehension is something you may have not picked up. The comments are designed for people to discuss the article at hand and previous comments. Not at a source of free SPAM for you to steal advertisement space from Patch.com. The terms of service are very clear, you violated them.

@Zak Why aren't you deleting his ads? Does he have a deal with Patch to run them?

Tommy Boy,

Go back to work. Leave the blogger alone. Most of the bloggers are associated with companies and post it in their blog. Why pick on this one?

He should write his own blog, or contact Patch Ad sales. Most of the bloggers follow the rules, which are (mostly) reasonable. Forum spam, stinks. Ironically, I think he is onto a good business idea.

The real question would be: Why do you care what someone posts in a comment? Seriously. Are you going to be the "Patch Police" too?

chris- clearly tommy has way too much time on his hands

hey zak- i dont comment much here but i really enjoy your work and believe patch is a great way to find out whats happening in town and hear different peoples persepectives. however people like tommy p are starting to turn me off to the site, i could read a positive article about some local town kid and he ll quickly turn it into some nosense arguement that isnt even related to the article.
im not sure if you are familiar with facebook but on facebook you have the option to unsubscribe to people and they will not show up on your news feed. would this be an option for patch? if i could read articles with the option of not seeing tommy p or bellair berdans comments or replys to thier comments i think i would enjoy the site a lot more.
thanks zak- keep up the good work

Hi,
If I did that I would, in fact, be taking something I should not.
Thing is that there is no service like this available in the area and no blogs addressing "green cleaning" such as this as a need.
I'm trying to get the word out in many ways; not just The Patch.
Thanks for your comment.

It's called "topic drift" or "hijacking a thread". In the world of unwritten Internet etiquette - it's considered rude to both the person who spent time starting the topic and the visitors who expect THAT topic to be the subject of the discussions.

The person hi-jacking a threat is usually is looked at as lazy, because if you wanted to discuss House Cleaning than you should make the effort in starting your OWN blog, create an article on THAT topic - instead of scattering the focus on a differently themed thread and wasting the time/space of readers who visited THIS blog to read about and share insights on outdoor lighting.

So - yes, this IS "social networking" and like in every area of society, there are those who use it appropirately for the benefit of everyone who participates, and those who abuse it.

Hot Head--
I wouldn't have minded the first comment with your URL---I thought is was clever in a sense. All the stuff afterwards is what puts me off from using your professional services, written by you. Just keep that in mind when you are placing professional information and then following it or defending it afterwards.

Hi Tracy,
Thanks for your comment; and I do take it to heart. It's unfortunate that something like this needs defense from people like Tommy; so my attempt is to validate rather than defend.
If I were to gain you as a customer at some point, notwithstanding your current put-off, I'm sure you would be delighted with the results.
Best Regards-

Hot Head, you realize that this landscaping company probably paid for this spot to advertise themselves. I don't see anything in the post saying "please come in and sell your useless crap."

You called what I offer "crap" and don't have any idea what it offers. You sound like a bafoon.
As far as leeching is concerned; unless you are the one affected by this opinion, keep it to yourself.
Keep in mind that every time you open your mouth further on this topic the more you are contributing to what you call an inappropriate forum; (the lighting company).
Im sure people are more interested in Clean "green" cleaning than your opinions on advertising.

You do offer crap. Do you think that people don't know how to clean their own houses? Seriously, the crap I see them selling on TV is more enticing than this. I'd rather buy some Orange-Glo or Silly Putty.
