I'm writing this to you from the Community Center. My house in Radburn lost power Monday afternoon when the storm hit with 75mph winds. Trees went down
everywhere, knocking out power lines and sending us into darkness.
A giant tree on Radburn Rd took out a transformer and five telephone
poles. Another big tree on Plaza Rd took down a transformer and many
telephone poles. I spoke to power company officials at the site who
said we won't have power back until all four transformers are back on
line. Four days later, they haven't even started. First they said Monday
at the earliest, now they say Thursday at the earliest, a week from
today. Radburn town manager says a week from Monday at earliest, which
will be 14 days without power.
Yesterday was a bummer with no Halloween. So I walked around the
neighborhood with my Snickers bars and gave them to the children.
My brother Tod in the Warren Poiint section never loses power. My
mother fled to his house to live for these weeks since she couldn't
take the cold, nor could her new puppy. I am alone in the house taking
care of the two cats. I don't mind the cold, but miss the internet, TV
and DVD for movies. I've already read two books.
And I will go to the mall to eat and see a movie each night, I'll
probably see everything at the 12-plex.
But I had a great day after the storm as a photojournalist, taking
pictures of the downed trees, some on houses.

Hi Cornell...man, could I relate to all you said...sitting in the cold, dark, AM Radio world of Sandy, is not my cup of tea either. You talked about walking around town , taking photos, sometimes with a tree on a house - well, the video I sent you up top, is the tree that fell on my house..minor damage, but what a scare it was to have that happen.
My power did come on Sun. morning , so things aren't so bad - certaintly not as bad as many others. You'll be fine, and I always love to see your photos too.
