Council to Vote on Accepting Credit Card Payments

The Fair Lawn Council meets at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday in the municipal building.

Those who owe money to Fair Lawn may soon be able to pay with a credit card.

The Fair Lawn Council is scheduled to vote Tuesday on a resolution authorizing an agreement with Municipal Nationwide Payment Solution to process credit card transactions for the borough.

The credit card transactions are expected to be convenient for those making the payments and to reduce the municipal clerk's workload, according to the resolution.

The first borough department to accept credit card payments will be the municipal court, officials said last week. The accepted payments will also likely include those to the tax and water collection departments, DPW, police department, clerk, health and human services department, engineer, recreation department and building department, according to the resolution.

The borough will only have to pay transaction fees for payments made to the municipal court, which will come out of the fines, according to the resolution.

The Fair Lawn Council meets at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday in the borough municipal building. The agenda is available here.
