Girls Can Sing and Dance With Fair Lawn 'Singers Company'

The group is seeking new members for their new season.

A non-competitive singing group based in Fair Lawn is ready for its second year and seeking new girls to join.

Singers Company came to Bergen County last year under the direction of Fair Lawn resident Emily Pascual, a mom and piano teacher. The local group is the first Singers Company in New Jersey, but they exist in 16 other states.

Elementary age girls of any skill level are welcome to join the group. They meet on Mondays at 5 p.m. in the Saints Church in Glen Rock, located at 40 Central Avenue. Next Monday will be the last day for new girls to join the Singers Company this season.

Last spring, the group performed a show called "I Enjoy Being a Girl; The Princess in Me," according to Pascual. They performed at a retirement center and did another show for family and friends.

"It has been amazing to me to watch the confidence grow in each if the girls," Pascual told Patch. "Practices are fun. We sing some songs, dance to some songs and sing and dance to some songs."

This fall, they're preparing for a Christmas show called "Once on a Housetop." They plan to perform at a children's hospital and hold another for friends and family.
