VIDEO: Internationally-Acclaimed Artist Alice Harrison's Work Displayed at Library

Inside Fair Lawn's Wayne Robbins spoke with visual artist Alice Harrison at her reception Sunday at the Library's Pine Gallery

The artwork of internationally-recognized mixed media artist Alice Harrison will be on display in the 's Pine Gallery until Dec. 29.

Harrison works in a number of mediums, including oil, acrylic, water, prints, found papers and objects, image transfers and encaustic.  

Her work has appeared in galleries and universities both in the United States and around the world. 

"Inspired by nature - within and without - I create imagery and sensations of joy, color, movement and harmony," reads Harrison's "Artist's Statement," on her website. "My work has been described as imaginative, playful and filled with energy and hope.  I work in layers technically, intellectually and spiritually. Using various media and materials, a world develops, creating a conversation with the viewer." 

Harrison has received several Geraldine R. Dodge grants as well as a grant from Gardens in Pennsylvania, and is listed in "Who’s Who in American Art" and in "Outstanding Arts and Designers of the 20th Century." 

She coauthored and published "Artist’s Guidebook to a New Creative Lifeand is one of 40 artists featured in the book "Masters: Collage: Major Works by Leading Artists."

Harrison spoke about her work and answered questions from the audience during an artist's reception held Sunday, Nov. 13 at the . Inside Fair Lawn's Wayne Robbins was there with the scoop.
