Picnic Chef's New Restaurant Makes Top List

Christine Nunn's new restaurant, Grange, was named one of the best in New Jersey by The Star-Ledger.

The chef behind former Fair Lawn restaurant Picnic has landed in a new eatery which was recently named one of the top 10 new restaurants in New Jersey by The Star-Ledger.

Grange, located in Westwood, was opened by chef Christine Nunn, formerly of Fair Lawn's Picnic, and proprietor Brian Powell, who opened and managed Chakra in Paramus. The menu offers "a modern take on classic American dishes, simple yet elegant, with a twist of French technique or a surprising ingredient or two," according to Powell.

Star-Ledger critic Teresa Politano praised Grange's foie gras and deviled eggs trio, among other dishes and Nunn's new cookbook.

"You’ll be reminded of that mid-century graciousness, in all its Hollandaise, blue cheese and crab-dip glory, at Grange," Politano wrote. "The restaurant is newly opened, and Nunn is still finding her groove, but expect a whimsical menu that changes with the seasons. You’ll love, too, the gracious, professional service."

Picnic was also highly praised, having been named one of the top 25 restaurants in the state by New Jersey Monthly before it closed at the beginning of the year.

Grange is located at 31 Westwood Ave., Westwood.
