Promenade's Retail Portion Slated for Fall Opening

Written by Megan Merrigan

Construction is going “very well” at the Fair Lawn Promenade, an upscale, mixed-use housing development scheduled to open for retail purposes in the fall.

Three of the five buildings that will occupy the 10-acre lot between Route 208 North and Pollitt Drive are up and construction on the remaining two buildings is scheduled to begin soon, according to Scott Loventhal, the director of development for Garden Homes Development and Garden Commercial Properties, which owns the Promenade.

The entire project, which broke ground a year ago, is three to six months away from completion, Loventhal said.

“Our goal is to create a pedestrian-friendly destination with supreme access to transportation where people will want to live, work and shop,” he told Patch last year.

Loventhal predicts leases for the 150 rental apartments will be available to prospective residents beginning in December and tenants will be able to move-in at the start of March.

Though the residential units are not scheduled to be complete until next year, shopping at the promenade is planned to start in the fall.

Loventhal said he was not in a position at this point to reveal the retail operations that have leased commercial space at the Promenade, but mentioned that 80 percent of the commercial space is filled and will house several nationally recognized restaurants.

The development will also have office space, which “one very large research firm” will occupy most of, according to Loventhal.

“It’s going to be great,” Loventhal said of the project.

More information regarding Fair Lawn Promenade is available on the development’s website.
