Rail Yard Tavern Holds Grand Opening

The restaurant offers a variety of specialty thin crust pizzas, among other Italian and American dishes.

New Fair Lawn restaurant The Rail Yard Tavern held their grand opening last week.

The restaurant is located at the site of the former Trackside Grille, but the new owners completely renovated the interior with separate bar, lounge and family dining areas. The new layout eliminated the downstairs seating, but still kept the same number of seats as Trackside without becoming cramped.

The menu features a large variety of thin crust pizzas, burgers, sandwiches and dinner entrees — Boozy Burbs posted the full menu here — and the bar has a selection of craft beers and a full wine and spirit menu.

The restaurant also takes advantage of technology, accepting online reservations, providing customers with iPads to order their meals and letting diners play DJ via the Rockbot app.

Rail Yard is co-owned by Sue McLaughlin and Bob Piccoli, the former owner of Pub 17 in Ramsey. They were able to pick up Trackside's location and liquor license after the state seized the former eatery for failing to pay taxes.

"We're looking forward to being a part of the Fair Lawn community," McLaughlin said. "This is just a friendly place for anyone to go."

The Rail Yard Tavern is located at 14-22 N. Plaza Road. Their phone number is (201) 773-3372.
