High Wind Warning, Flood Advisory Issued in Bergen County

The National Weather Service has issue a high wind warning and a flood advisory until 6 a.m. Thursday.

Both a high wind warning and a flood advisory remain in effect in Bergen County overnight Wednesday into early Thursday morning, according to the National Weather Service.

NWS warns that potentially damaging winds between 15 and 25 miles per hour with gusts up to 60 miles per hour are expected throughout the night that may, in combination with heavy rain, bring down trees, tree limbs or power lines.

As of 4 a.m., Public Service reported 501 to 2,000 outages in nearby Elmwood Park and under 500 in Glen Rock, but none in either Fair Lawn or Saddle Brook.

A heavy rain expected to pass through Northeast New Jersey around 3:40 a.m. may lead to urban and small stream flooding in low-lying spots, according to NWS. Rainfall rates of between one-half inch to one inch per hour are anticipated.

While showers are most likely before 9 a.m., NWS forecasts a breezy day with a west wind around 22 miles per hour and gusts as high as 48 miles per hour.
