Week Ahead: Field of Horrors, FLHS Marching Band Home Competition, River Road Street Fair

Below is a list of events scheduled in Fair Lawn and Saddle Brook this week

Below is a list of events to keep in mind this week:

  • Monday, Oct. 15 -- 
  1. The Fair Lawn Planning Board will continue hearing testimony and taking resident questions on the proposed Landmark development at Daly Field at 7:30 p.m. Environmental concerns, which were discussed at length during last month's meeting, will again headline the agenda.
  • Tuesday, Oct. 16 -- 
  1. Tuesday, Oct. 16 is thelast day to register to vote in the Nov. 6 election. The Saddle Brook Municipal Building will be open until 9 p.m. to accomodate voter registration.
  2. The Fair Lawn Council has a regular meeting at 7:30 p.m., Council Chambers on Fair Lawn Avenue.
  3. The Saddle Brook Township Planning Board meets at 7:30 p.m., Council Chambers on Market Street.
  • Wednesday, Oct. 17 - 
  • Thursday, Oct. 18 - 
  1. The Patch Pick 'Em, our weekly NFL Fantasy Football advice column, continues Thursday. Make sure to check it out and cast your vote for who you think will win in each week's Pick 'Em games.
  2. The Field of Horrors, a seasonal haunted attraction held annually at Saddle Brook's Veterans Field, located at 20 Sampson St., opens at 7 p.m. Admission is $5.
  3. The Fair Lawn Board of Education has its regular meeting at 7:30 p.m at Edison School, Room 19. On the agenda, the district's school violence and vandalism, and harrasment, intimidation and bullying reports.
  • Friday, Oct. 19 
  1. Fair Lawn is holding a flu clinic from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. to immunize residents against influenza and pneumonia, Municipal Building Court Room. Pre-register by calling 201-794-5327.
  2. Coming off its first lost of the year, the Saddle Brook High School football team (5-1) travels to North Arlington to play Queen of Peace High School at 7 p.m. 
  3. The Field of Horrors, a seasonal haunted attraction held annually at Saddle Brook's Veterans Field, located at 20 Sampson St., opens at 7 p.m. Admission is $5.
  4. The Old Library Theatre presents "Jekyll & Hyde" at the Fair Lawn Community Center Theater at 8 p.m.
  • Saturday, Oct. 20 -  
  1. The Fair Lawn High School football team hosts Ridgewood at 2:30 p.m. at Sasso Field, in a revival of the annual Thanksgiving Day rivalry that dates back to 1944.
  2. The Field of Horrors, a seasonal haunted attraction held annually at Saddle Brook's Veterans Field, located at 20 Sampson St., opens at 7 p.m. Admission is $5.
  3. The Old Library Theatre presents "Jekyll & Hyde" at the Fair Lawn Community Center Theater at 8 p.m.
  4. The at 8 p.m. at the Radburn Grange, 29-20 Fair Lawn Ave. Admission is free.
  • Sunday, Oct. 21 - 
  1. The Fair Lawn Chamber of Commerce Street Fair on River Road runs from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. For the 10th year, there will also be a Classic Car Show at the street fair.
  2. For the first time ever, the award-winning Fair Lawn High School Marching Band will host an outdoor USBands Marching Band competition at Sasso Field. The 1 p.m. event will feature performances by the Cutters and five other New Jersey high school bands, as well as an exhibition show by the College of Holy Cross Marching Band from Worcester, Mass. Admission is $10 for adults, $8 for students and seniors.
  3. The first-place Giants (4-2), coming off a dismantling of the mighty San Francisco 49ers, take on the Washington Redskins at home at 1 p.m.
  4. The Old Library Theatre presents "Jekyll & Hyde" at the Fair Lawn Community Center Theater at 2 p.m.
  5. The first-place Jets (3-3) travel to Foxborough for a matchup with division rival New England at 4:25 p.m.
