Week Ahead: Fair Lawn Board of Ed Debate, Costume Parade, Cameos Dinner/Dance

  • Monday, Oct. 22 -- 
  1. The Fair Lawn Jewish Center is hosting its Fair Lawn Hadassah Annual Fashion Show and Dinner at 6:30 p.m. Fashions from Annie Sez Route 4 west. Dinner is being catered by Petak's. $40 to attend.
  2. There's a Fair Lawn Zoning Board Meeting at 7 p.m. in Council Chambers.
  • Tuesday, Oct. 23 -- 
  1. The Fair Lawn Council has a council work session at 7:30 p.m., Borough Hall Room 201.
  • Wednesday, Oct. 24 - 
  1. Voting for this year's Fair Lawn Patch Scariest Halloween Houses poll begins. Any last minute suggestions for houses to include, please email me at zak.koeske@patch.com
  • Thursday, Oct. 25 - 
  1. The Patch Pick 'Em, our weekly NFL Fantasy Football advice column, continues Thursday. Make sure to check it out and cast your vote for who you think will win in each week's Pick 'Em games.
  2. The League of Women Voters and the PTA Council of Fair Lawn are sponsoring a Candidates Forum for the Board of Education at 8 p.m. at Borough Hall Council Chambers. This week we'll be profiling each of the six Board of Ed candidates in advance of the debate and the November election.
  • Friday, Oct. 26 
  1. Residents of all ages are welcome to visit the Haunted Library from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. for a spooky night of games, trick-or-treating and crafts at the Maurice Pine Public Library.
  2. The Old Library Theatre presents "Jekyll & Hyde" at the Fair Lawn Community Center Theater at 8 p.m.
  • Saturday, Oct. 27 -  
  1. Fair Lawn's Halloween Costume Parade at Memorial Park begins at 10:30 a.m. Parade assembly is at 10 a.m. at the Memorial Pool main parking lot. All participants receive a Halloween treat bag with treats already inside. In case of inclement weather, the parade will be held inside Memorial Middle School. Call the recreation department at 201-796-6746 after 9 a.m. for details.
  2. Without star quarterback Kevin Osback under center last week, the Cutters fell to Ridgewood, 38-0. This week, the Fair Lawn High School football team hopes to rebound at home against Lakeland High School. Kickoff is at noon.
  3. The Saddle Brook High School football team (6-1) returned to its winning ways this past week against Queen of Peace. They host Bogota at 1 p.m. this week.
  4. The Fair Lawn Community Center 501(c)3 is hosting an evening of dinner and dancing from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. at the Community Center. The night's featured performers will be the popular New Jersey oldies band, The Cameos. $60 per person.   5. The Old Library Theatre presents "Jekyll & Hyde" at the Fair Lawn Community Center Theater at 8 p.m.
  • Sunday, Oct. 28 - 
  1. The Jets (3-4), coming off a frustrating overtime loss to the Patriots, take on Miami at home at 1 p.m.
  2. Enjoy an afternoon of bingo designed especially for families with children at Temple Beth Sholom, 1:30 p.m.
  3. The Old Library Theatre presents "Jekyll & Hyde" at the Fair Lawn Community Center Theater at 2 p.m.
  4. After a thrilling win in Week 7, the Giants (5-2) host the division rival Cowboys at 4:25 p.m.
