Week Ahead: Meetings, Flu Clinic, Fire Department Open Houses

Below is a list of events to keep in mind this week:

• Monday, Oct. 8 -- 

1. Fair Lawn Borough and Saddle Brook Township offices are closed for Columbus Day.
2. Fair Lawn Schools are open for Columbus Day. Saddle Brook Schools have a half-day.
3. Saddle Brook Board of Education Caucus Meeting at 7:30 p.m., Saddle Brook High School/Middle School.
4. The Fair Lawn Holiday Celebrations Committee in cooperation with the Knights of Columbus, the Cosmos Club and the Fair Lawn Recreation Department are announcing the winners of the Columbus Day Poster and Essay Contest for Fair Lawn school children, grades kindergarten through 8, during the Columbus Day program at 7:30 p.m. at the Knights of Columbus in Fair Lawn.
5. The New York Jets (2-2) face off at home against the undefeated Houston Texans on Monday Night Football at 8:30 p.m.

• Tuesday, Oct. 9 -- 

1. The Saddle Brook Council has a work session at 6:30 p.m., Council Chambers on Market Street.
2. Fair Lawn Fire Company 1 has an open house frmo 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., 12-34 George St.
3. The Fair Lawn Council has a work session at 7:30 p.m., Council Chambers on Fair Lawn Avenue.
4. The Fair Lawn Board of Education has a special work session at 7:30 p.m. for the presentation of district state assessments, Edison School, Room 19.

• Wednesday, Oct. 10 - 

1. The Fair Lawn Farmer's Market had its final week of the year last week and is now closed for the year.
2. Fair Lawn is holding a flu clinic from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. to immunize residents against influenza and pneumonia, Municipal Building Court Room.
3. Saddle Brook Board of Education regular meeting at 7:30 p.m., Saddle Brook High School/Middle School.

• Thursday, Oct. 11 - 

1. The Patch Pick 'Em, our weekly NFL Fantasy Football advice column, continues Thursday. Make sure to check it out and cast your vote for who you think will win in each week's Pick 'Em games.
2. Saddle Brook Township Council regular meeting at 7 p.m., Council Chambers on Market Street.

• Friday, Oct. 12 - 

1. Following a 44-0 loss to parochial powerhouse Don Bosco last week, the Fair Lawn High School football team travels to Wayne this Friday to face Passaic County Tech at 7 p.m.
2. The undefeated Saddle Brook High School football team, who trounced North Arlington 40-14 over the weekend, plays on the road at Hasbrouck Heights at 7 p.m.  
3. The Old Library Theatre presents "Jekyll & Hyde" at the Fair Lawn Community Center Theater at 8 p.m.

• Saturday, Oct. 13 -  

1. The award-winning Fair Lawn High School Marching Band competes at Hillsborough High School.
2. The Old Library Theatre presents "Jekyll & Hyde" at the Fair Lawn Community Center Theater at 8 p.m.

• Sunday, Oct. 14 - 

1. Fair Lawn Fire Company 2 has an open house from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m., 24-00 Route 208.
2. The Jets (2-2) face off at home with the Colts at 1 p.m.
3. The Old Library Theatre presents "Jekyll & Hyde" at the Fair Lawn Community Center Theater at 2 p.m.
4. The Giants (3-2) head to San Francisco to take on the red-hot 49ers at 4:25 p.m.
