Radburn Players to Present Original Works Winner on October 12

Fair Lawn’s
Radburn Players will present the original play The Fake Book at its 5th Annual
Original Works Staged Reading at 8pm on Saturday October 12 at the Radburn
Association Grange Hall, 29-20 Fair Lawn Avenue in Fair Lawn. This evening of
entertainment is open to the public at no charge, and also includes
complementary beverages and snacks.



Taking place in
New Jersey, The Fake Book is a one-act play featuring two Catholic kids from a
blue-collar northern New Jersey town, self-styled hippies whose close friend
turned out to be a state trooper. The play is a natural for North Jersey
audiences, containing references to the Star-Ledger, the Passaic River, and
other touch points.



Winning
playwright Marian Calabro is the author of 17 nonfiction history books,
including the award-winning Perilous Journey of the Donner Party (Houghton
Mifflin). In that connection she has appeared on The History Channel and The
Travel Channel’s “Mysteries at the Museum.” As a creative writer, she is a
published poet and an aspiring playwright whose drama “The Fake Book” premiered
in the 2013 Venus Theater Festival at Cabrini Rep in Manhattan. Marian leads
creative writing workshops at the Adult School of Montclair and privately. She
also teaches business writing to staff at Columbia University. Marian is a
lifelong resident of area code 201 and a graduate of Rutgers College.
