Fair Lawn Residents Travel to Philippines to Distribute Typhoon Aid

Fair Lawn Filipino Friday raised nearly $20,000 and a container full of goods to help the victims of Typhoon Haiyan.

A post-Thanksgiving fundraising effort in Fair Lawn generated nearly $20,000 and a full shipping container of clothing, food and other items to help residents of The Philippines after Typhoon Haiyan.

Fair Lawn residents Steve and Nelsie Parado traveled to the country to help distribute the aid and Cheryl Canlas, a nurse from the borough, is also headed their on a medical mission.

Fair Lawn Fillipino Association President Joe Tedeschi and Mayor John Cosgrove thanked local residents for their support.

"Once again, the people of Fair Lawn have answered the call of others who need our help," Cosgrove said. "I'm very proud of our community."
