Volunteer To Make a Cleaner, Greener Fair Lawn

The Fair Lawn Recycling Division will hold its final litter clean-up event of the year on Sept. 8.

Volunteers are needed for the 's final litter clean-up event of the year, to be held this Saturday.

For helping to beautify Fair Lawn, volunteers receive free t-shirts, gloves, bags, baskets and breakfast. The clean-up work also counts as community service hours.

To register as a volunteer, call (201)-794-5304. Volunteers will meet at the at 20-05 Saddle River Road for the clean up event, which will be held from 8:45 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 5, is the last chance to register for the event.

If you are unable to participate in the formal clean-up event, the borough asks that you consider taking a pledge to clean up your street, a nearby park, a storm drain in front of your home or the sidewalk in front of your business.

This program is part of the New Jersey Clean Communities program, whose advisory council works with the Department of Environmental Protection and the Department of the Treasury to oversee the implementation of litter pick-up programs in more than 500 municipalities statewide.
