Fair Lawn Ranked No. 7 in NJ For Job Seekers

Fair Lawn has received numerous accolades this year.

Fair Lawn's motto is that it's "a great place to visit and a better place to live."

So far this year, the borough has been named the 49th safest city in the U.S., a "booming suburb" and the third best place in New Jersey for young families. Now, consumer advocacy site Nerdwallet has also declared it the seventh best place in the state for job seekers.

Nerdwallet came to that conclusion through a study which considered median income, monthly homeowner costs, population growth and unemployment rates when rating different communities.

According to the study, Fair Lawn saw a 5.3 percent increase in the working-age population from 2009 to 2011. It also cited large Bergen County employers like Hackensack University Medical Center, Bio-Reference Laboratories and Quest Diagnostics as some of the reasons the borough is good for job seekers.

Fair Lawn wasn't the only Bergen town on the list. Paramus was ranked third, Ridgewood fourth, Bergenfield 10th and Fort Lee 11th by the study.
