Fair Lawn will hold a fundraiser Friday to benefit the victims of Typhoon Haiyan in the Philippines.

"Fair Lawn Filipino Friday" will run from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. in the Fair Lawn Community Center. Donations of nonperishable food products, personal items and cash and checks will be accepted.

Thousands were killed when Typhoon Haiyan hit the Philippines and mass destruction left others without food and shelter.

Fair Lawn has a large Filipino community, according to the FAAFL. Many have family back in the Philippines who were affected by the storm.

"Join in with our neighbors in helping the best we can," Cosgrove said. "We are all Fair Lawn."
