Fair Lawn Joins Second 'Wreaths Across America'

The event honors veterans of the U.S. military.

A group of Fair Lawn residents and officials gathered outside the municipal building during a snowstorm Saturday to lay wreaths as part of a national campaign honoring U.S. military veterans.

The campaign, Wreaths Across America, coordinates ceremonies like the one held in Fair Lawn across the country every December. This was the second year Fair Lawn participated in Wreaths Across America.

Fair Lawn resident Rich Seibel, whose son, Jordan, is a Marine who served in Afghanistan, brought the campaign to the borough.

"It means a lot to the troops and to the families of the troops, especially this time of year," Seibel said. "It's a very lonely and anxious feeling when someone in your family is over in a far-off land. You're really not celebrating the holidays."
