Contractor Wrote Bad Checks to Suppliers, Police Say

Fair Lawn Police arrested a 50-year-old Palisades Park man Tuesday who allegedly wrote bad checks to material suppliers for his business as a contractor, according to Sgt. Brian Metzler.

Police Officer Louis Failla pulled over Orested Medina at about 12:30 p.m. Tuesday because Medina's 1999 Ford Econoline van had a shattered windshield, according to Metzler. 

Failla arrested Medina after discovering a warrant out of Englewood for allegedly writing a bad check. 

At police headquarters, Detective Jeff Welsh realized that Medina had also allegedly written a bad check to Glen Rock Lumber, based on Rosalie Street in Fair Lawn. Police had started that investigation in August.

Police charged Medina with writing a bad check and issued summons for an obstructed view, worn brake pads and operating with a suspended license. He was then turned over to Englewood Police, according to Metzler.
