Cosgrove Headlines Program on Fire Department's 100 Year History
This Wednesday, the Fair Lawn Historic Preservation Commission is sponsoring a free program on the 100th anniversary of the Fair Lawn Fire Department
Fair Lawn Deputy Mayor John Cosgrove will present the fascinating 100-year history of the Fair Lawn Fire Department on Wednesday as part of the Historic Preservation Commission's Fall Program.
An ex-chief whose family has served in the fire department's ranks for four generations, Cosgrove's presentation of old photos, artifacts and personal recollections should entertain history buffs and firefighting enthusiasts alike.
Fair Lawn's fire department, which was founded in November 1911 and celebrated 100 years of volunteer service to the community in June, has four companies and roughly 130 members who respond to some 800 fire calls annually.
