Fair Lawn Auxiliary Police Seek New Members

Applications, which must be in by Oct. 19, will be accepted from residents of Fair Lawn, Elmwood Park and Saddle Brook.

The Fair Lawn Auxiliary Police, a volunteer organization that supplements the , are accepting applications for new members.

Per New Jersey State Police guidelines, auxiliary police candidates must be residents of Fair Lawn, Saddle Brook or Elmwood Park, must attend a basic auxiliary police training course at the Bergen County Law & Public Safety Institution and must meet a specific hour requirement.

In addition to supplementing the police with patrols, courtroom security and community policing efforts, auxiliary police also assist the police department during special events, parades, carnivals, fireworks, DMV and DWI checkpoints, emergency traffic and crowd control, and evacuations. Auxiliary police officers will also occasionally be asked to provide assistance to other towns.
