Fair Lawn Man Found Guilty on Toddler Molestation Charges, Report Says

John Katsigiannis could face up to 20 years in prison after a Hackensack jury found he sexually assaulted a 15-month-old girl five years ago, according to northjersey.com

A Fair Lawn man was convicted Monday on charges he molested his ex-girlfriend's 15-month-old daughter during a barbecue he hosted in June of 2007, according to a report on northjersey.com.

The prosecution alleged John Katsigiannis, 30, used his finger to molest the child with such force that she suffered significant bleeding that required corrective surgery, according to the news site. Katsigiannis claimed the girl was injured when he attempted to change her diaper and inadvertently scratched her.

A deadlocked jury failed to reach a verdict at his aggravated sexual assault trial in 2011. But with Monday's jury decision, he will serve at least 85 percent of his term, potentially 20 years in all, northjersey.com reports.

Katsigiannis also made headlines in 2011 when he appeared at Borough Hall to defend claims his "vicious" dogs were escaping his property, biting neighbors' dogs and posing a significant danger to humans. The as they had not bitten any humans.

His attorney plans to appeal the sexual assault verdict, northjersey.com reported. Katsigiannis will be sentenced on March 8.
