Fair Lawn Named Among Safest Towns in NJ

A website picked Fair Lawn as the 46th safest town in the state.

Fair Lawn was recently named the 46th safest town in New Jersey by SafeWise, a home security website.

The website's list of the 50 safest communities in the state highlighted Fair Lawn because of the many activities offered for residents at the community center.

"In fact, our bet is that one reason Fair Lawn enjoys a low crime rate is because it goes above and beyond to keep youth actively entertained," SafeWise wrote.

The website's analysis was done with data from the FBI’s 2011 Crime in the U.S. Report combined with their own "comprehensive investigation."

Mayor John Cosgrove said he was happy to have the borough receive yet another accolade.

"It shows that we're vigilant and the police are doing a really good job," he said.

Fair Lawn wasn't the only Bergen County town to make the list. Mahwah came in at the top spot. Dumont, Bergenfield, New Milford, Wyckoff, Ridgewood, Cliffside Park, Fort Lee and Palisades Park also made the top 50.
