Fire Destroys Car Parked Outside Municipal Building

The car was parked on Parmelee Avenue outside of the Fair Lawn municipal building when it caught on fire.

Fair Lawn firefighters were able to quickly extinguish a burning car that was parked on Parmelee Avenue outside the borough municipal building Wednesday morning.

Fire Department Battalion Chief Tim Yuskaitis was inside the municipal building at 10:46 a.m. when he received the call for the fire outside. He came out to find the passenger section of the car burning, he said.

It took firefighters about 10 minutes to knock down the flames, according to Yuskaitis. There were no injuries.

The exact cause of the fire was not immediately determined, but the owner reported having recently had work done on the car.
