Flood Warning Extended for Bergen County

The National Weather Service has extended its flood warning until 10:30 a.m. Thursday

Fair Lawn residents living near the rivers may be able to catch a carp but they can't catch a break.

With more than an inch of rain overnight in Bergen County, the National Weather Service has extended its flood warning through 10:30 a.m. Thursday.

The Passaic River at Little Falls reached major flood stage (9 feet) by early Thursday morning and continues to rise. Revised estimates now have the river up to 12.3 feet by Friday night, almost two feet higher than was forecast Wednesday.

The river is expected to remain above 11 feet into Sunday.

For resident's dealing with flood damage to their homes, the borough will hold its second  on Thursday night at 7 p.m. in Borough Hall to answer questions about the FEMA Disaster Assistance Program.
