Gas Station Employee Took Customer's Credit Card, Police Say

Fair Lawn police charged Gilmark Costa with credit card fraud.

Fair Lawn police arrested a 20-year-old gas station attendant last week who allegedly found a customer's lost credit card and used it to get cash and fill his own tank, according to Sgt. Brian Metzler.

Gilmark Costa, 20, of Paterson, allegedly used the card for two transactions at the Lukoil on Route 208 South where he worked to charge $103, which he took as cash. He also used the card to fill up his own car for $36 at another gas station in Paterson, according to Metzler.

Detective Jeff Welsh, Detective David Boone and Detective Lt. Michael Uttel caught Costa after finding him using the card on the Lukoil's security tapes, Metzler said.

Costa was charged with credit card fraud and released on his own recognizance.
