Mail Carrier Ejected From Post Office Truck In Three-Car Accident

The postal truck coasted into another car after the carrier, a Fair Lawn resident, was thrown from his vehicle, police said

A postal worker from Fair Lawn was injured Friday afternoon when the mail truck he was driving was struck by a car pulling out of the State Line Diner in Mahwah, police said.

The collision tore the door off the postal truck and ejected its driver, Milan Desai, into the northbond lane of Island Road, police said.

Desai, who was conscious at the scene, was transported to Valley Hospital with head trauma, police said.

His mail truck continued coasting down the road after he was ejected from it and ended up hitting a parked car in a nearby parking lot and a utility pole before finally coming to rest, police said.

The driver of the car that struck Desai was issued a ticket for careless driving, but did not sustain any injuries, police said.

Following the accident, postal authorities secured pieces of mail scattered on the road and left in Desai's postal truck, police said.
