Fair Lawn Man Allegedly Spit Blood at Police Officer

Man charged with assault on a police officer after early morning traffic stop, according to a news report.

A Fair Lawn man was arrested following a traffic stop early Monday morning and charged with assaulting a Glen Rock police officer, the Glen Rock Gazette reported.

Edward Guy, 31, was the passenger of a vehicle stopped on Route 208 north near Goffle Road around 2:15 a.m. Monday by Office Greg Carter, police told the paper. Guy, who was reportedly “extremely intoxicated” at the time, allegedly yelled at police and refused to exit the car.

Officers, including backups from Ridgewood and Hawthorne, forcibly removed Guy to be taken to Bergen Regional Medical Center, the report said. Guy allegedly resisted the process, kicking at the windows of the squad, attempting to bite Carter and eventually spitting blood and saliva in the officer's face.
