Trio Accused of Armed Robbery Attempt of Deliveryman

Saddle Brook residents Xhonero Shehu, Justin Glazer and Lakhwinder Singh were charged in the incident.

Police have arrested and charged three Saddle Brook teens they say tried to commit an armed robbery of a deliveryman.

Xhonero Shehu and Justin Glazer, both 18, were charged with first-degree armed robbery, forgery and theft by deception. Glazer was also charged with possession of a handgun and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose. Lakhwinder Singh, 18, was charged with hindering apprehension.

When a 61-year-old Mandarin-speaking delivery driver and his teenage son arrived on Alberta Drive with an alcohol order from a Garfield deli last Tuesday night, three men tried to pay for the order with fake money, police previously said.

When the driver refused the counterfeit cash, one of the men allegedly brandished a gun and another hit the victim in the head. The driver then hit the gas to escape the would-be robbers, crashing into three parked cars, according to police.

Police traced the order call to Singh, according to Police Deputy Chief Robert White.

Shehu and Glazer were being held in Bergen County Jail in lieu of $150,000 and $200,000 bail, respectively. Singh was released on $5,000 bail with a 10 percent option.

Police also recovered the handgun allegedly used in the incident and were analyzing it "for further evidentiary purposes," according to White.

Saddle Brook Police Detective Capt. Vincent Laurentino, Capt. James Galbo and Detective Sgt. Thomas Johnson worked with the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Computer Criminal Division and the Bergen County Sheriff’s Department Bureau of Criminal Identification to identify and arrest the suspects, White said.

All three men are due in court Sept. 10.
