Sex Offender Threatens With Rifle, Found With Explosives, Police Say

Weapons, ammo and explosives found in Saddle Brook home after man threatened girlfriend's daughters, police said.

A convicted sex offender who threatened his girlfriend's daughters with a rifle was found Saturday with multiple weapons, ammunition and explosives in a Saddle Brook home, police said.

Robert Sunday, 51, was charged with aggravated assault and weapons and explosives possession after officers responded to a "frantic" 911 call from the man's girlfriend at about 8 p.m. Saturday, according to NJ.com. The incident prompted an evacuation of the area near the girlfriend's home on Bell Avenue, according to the article.

Sunday was convicted in 1993 of sexual assault and endangering the welfare of a child. He was also charged in 2001 with failure to register as a sex offender.
